Motorway tyre callout

A blowout at 70mph is the worst place to lose a tyre. These are the stretches we cover, 24 hours a day, from our Crumpsall workshop.

M60 Manchester Ring Road

J1 Stockport to J27 Portwood — the full ring

The ring road wraps the whole city, so no junction on it is more than about 20 minutes from the Crumpsall workshop. J17–J22 (Prestwich, Middleton, Chadderton, Failsworth) are the closest.

M62 Trans-Pennine

J7 Widnes to J24 Ainley Top

Covers the Rochdale, Milnrow and Saddleworth Moor climb eastbound and the Irlam, Warrington and Widnes stretch westbound.

M61 Manchester to Preston

J1 Kearsley to J9 Preston

Bolton, Westhoughton, Horwich and Chorley. Joins the M60 at Kearsley, so response times are close to core-area.

M66 Bury and Rossendale

J1 Rawtenstall to J4 Simister Island

The shortest run from the workshop of any motorway we cover — Simister Island is under 4 miles from Crumpsall.

M602 Salford Spur

J1 Eccles to J3 Regent Road

Short, busy and with narrow hard shoulders — a common callout for blowouts heading into Salford and the city centre.

M56 Cheshire and the airport

J1 Sale to J15 Chester

The Manchester Airport corridor. Frequent callouts from travellers who find a flat in the airport car parks.

M67 Denton and Hyde

J1 Denton to J4 Mottram

Feeds the Snake Pass and Woodhead routes over the Pennines — a bad place to be stranded after dark.

M6 through Cheshire and Lancashire

J16 Crewe to J32 Broughton

The busiest stretch of motorway in the North West. We cover the Warrington, Wigan, Chorley and Preston junctions.

A580 East Lancs Road

Swinton and Worsley through Leigh to St Helens

Fast dual carriageway with limited lay-bys. Runs west from the M60 at Worsley, about 15 minutes from the workshop.
